  1. Exactly.. So many wanna be emperor Nero's, with their cowardly indifference towards authentic communication (emotional integrity) out there nowadays, who see others as things in their one dimensional cold reason and their lack of compassion and sympathy, masked as empathy, try to dominate whatever has an heart to feel. It's just about a mind trick and when shit comes to shove, they show their true colors (barbarism, not civility). Sure, Nero wasn't a stoic per se, but he showed where this philosophy leads to - a suicidal sect (suicide by "cop" is even worse than suicide). Their trick with anxiety only helps temporarily and sure can be useful, for a soldier in combat for instance, but it doesn't last and takes a lot of energy.. No wonder do they see suicide as a easy way out, which of course is selfish and not noble or virtuous.
  2. They understood Socrates so wrongly, which kinda is kinda understandable because of the dickhead move from Plato. Using Socrates persons as a spokesperson on his own impotent ideas in the book "the Republic". As if Socrates would had agreed on such a class state with himself on top.. Stoic philosophy is always a philosophy of self-betrayl and if you betrayl yourself, you will betrayl all your friends. Stoic don't see that they also can have trust in themselves and that the true exceptional soldier, stays true to his emotional self (in secret they all do).

  4. I see a direct relation towards the rise of suicides and drug overdoses (same thing). They take substance over style, but their substances can't cure anythign, only sooth some possible future pain. Idiots that think that emotions can be positive or negative, are manipulators by their own design - they only care about winning for loosing means death for a soldier. Sad thing, that they loose eben when they win, for in defeat lies a lesson - the samurai, true warriors know that their manly way lies in death and not birth like it is for mothers. - Yes, emotions can be uncomfortable but if you are a slave to them or your mind or your imagination, then you just haven't decided anything for your own and haven't thought of anythign on your own; putting ideas before birth is like for a youth to try to live like an old man.

  6. No true ethics of your time, in the moment to moment that you life in, with the technology that you have, if you can't make one decicion all by yourself. If the decicion isn't intellectually and emotionally integer, then you are only fooling yourself - no decicion without emotions! And no originality without imagination (which, nowadays is pretty much crippled by most. - oh and most have an emotional maturity of a 6 year old).
  7.
  8. I think they lack mature humor.
  9. Which is understandable... If one can't laugh about one's owns jokes - from the heart, because you have to; feelings don't need reasons, no matter how many times one asks why. "why me?"..Y Y Y Y Y as infinitum. Lol. Primates without primitivity, only perversion (those words are mixed-up for most) - where one is involved in, how could they find something exceptional in themselves, when their act of not caring is just an act? Bad actors really (which for the Ancient Greeks, was one of the most lowly occupations). How much people nowadays try to be better actors.
  10. An association: Love Exposure, with the worst villain I have ever seen in a movie.. Warning: if you check reviews spoilers first, you might predetermined your breath and can laugh or cry fully - if at all. Brrr, I don't want to imagine that possibitly. What a waste would that be?
  11.
  12. Which would brings me to some other assholes in Literatur/history, but that might offend some stoics even more, up to the point of rage.
