  1. Late at night over warming mors and half eaten pastry fish veterans sometimes talk about the devil of the Borderland Ruins.  They call it Diablo, a Hyur sized creature covered in black plate mail with glowing red eyes.

  3. There are half-whispered theories as to what the creature might be: an Allagan defense mechanism, the ghost of a creature killed by an Allagan defense mechanism, or perhaps a voidsent just drawn to the area.   It curiously seems to avoid the center of the main ruin where the bulk of the Allagan artifacts can be found which has only heightened the speculation.  All that is known is that the beast stalks the edge of the plateau and is seemingly immortal; even after succumbing to it’s wounds it vanishes only to reappear within minutes or weeks in it’s most recent disappearance.

  5. And it is incredibly dangerous and hostile, seeking out and attacking any mercenary who might venture up the ramps to the center.  While the creature wields a giant tomahawk it rarely uses it to directly kill, instead with surprising agility and skill it seeks to knock people off the raised platform so they fall to their death.  In hushed tones, veterans will recount the many ways they have seen the Diablo dispatch its prey: a well timed throw to drag someone off a precarious ramp, kicking the legs out from an opponent before shoving off the top, and even chaining an unfortunate soul to itself before jumping off dragging the victim to their doom.  Even worse, the beast seems to relish playing with its prey. It is not content with merely killing its foes; it throws its axe at people after they have already been sent falling just to hear the screams they say.

  7. No one has ever managed to communicate with the creature but in the stories they tell when the fire has burned down cinders and the shopkeep is sweeping up they say you can hear the Diablo muttering “Darkness...” over and over again as it continues its unending hunt.
