  1.  Keep your cat's coat healthy by giving them a supplement of nutritional yeast. Nutritional yeast is an inexpensive supplement that can be found in most health food stores. Simply sprinkle a little bit on your cat's dry food, or mix it in with their wet food. Not only do they love how it tastes, but it's full of protein and vitamins that will keep them looking their best!
  2.  If your cat tends to be antisocial and anxious with company, try giving it a catnip toy a few hours before company arrives. Many cats become very mellow when exposed to catnip. Even if https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-N9qa1jL6gw does not want to socialize after catnip exposure, it will probably be happier and less anxious.
  3.  Keep the litter box clean. Cats are naturally very clean animals, and a dirty litter box will have your cat looking for alternative places to relieve himself. Cats also value their privacy, so try to locate the box in an area that does not get a lot of foot traffic.
  4.  If you going to be gone for more than a day, you should have someone look in on your cat. Leave out plenty of food, but have someone come to make sure it doesn't run out. If you do not have a neighbor or family to look in on your cat, you can usually find a cat sitter for a few dollars each day.
  5.  Keep track of your feline friend by having the animal microchipped. This small device is implanted beneath the skin between your cat's shoulder blades. Microchip implantation may sting for a few seconds, but the implant is otherwise unnoticeable and will not cause your pet any discomfort. This chip makes it easier for animal control to locate your cat if it goes missing.
  6.  Understand the difference between cat play and real aggression. Both activities can look the same to an untrained eye, but there are differences. When two cats are playing, they will bat each other around with claws retracted. They will "bite" with their jaws loose. Real aggression will involve hisses, squeals and hard biting.
  7.  If your cat is not getting trained to use the litter box as fast as you would like, there are sprays available that can make things a bit easier. These sprays have a scent that will attract your cat to the box, which means they will be more likely to go there when they need to use the bathroom.
  8.  You can use certain scents to discourage your cat from going into certain areas of your home. Aloe gel, citrus peels, and citrus juices smell wonderful to us, but cats don't feel the same way. Soak a cotton ball in one of these liquids, then place it on top of a piece of foil to prevent the liquid from staining your surface. Place the foil and cotton ball near the off-limits area.
  9.  If your cat has a problem with frequent hairballs, he may end up with digestive problems, retching and vomiting. The best way to avoid hairballs is to keep your cat well-groomed, brushing him daily to remove loose hair. Less hair means less hairballs. Another benefit of frequent brushing is that is great for bonding with your cat. Most cats love to be brushed and groomed.
  10.  Keep your eyes open for any signs of panting in your cat. Panting is normal for a dog. Panting can be an indicator of health problems in your cat. Be sure and make an appointment with your vet if you notice any respiratory problems with your cat.
  11.  Do a safety check to make sure there are no places where your cat could potentially get trapped. Cats can wriggle into surprisingly small spaces. Kittens are especially vulnerable. Beware of this as you bring a new kitty into your home. If you find holes of any size that the cat could get through, repair them.
  12.  As stated before, many pets exist, but few are as special as the cat. They are perfect for anyone looking for a new friend to occupy their home. There is some work associated with caring for cats, but it's no trouble for you. If you use this article, cat care can be a piece of cake.
