  1. Pollution has become one of the major issues in the country as well in the world. The pollution is increasing day by day whether it is air pollution, water, sound, soil or any other. And Hyderabad has become the fourth most city in India in terms of pollution after Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, and the second most polluted city in Southern India. It is been the major source of the matter that the pollution is heavily increased every day, and it has also affected the climate condition.
  2. According to the reports, Hyderabad City has seen a sharp increase in pollution levels. The major source of pollution is vehicular pollution.
  3. The level of air pollution is rising due to the increase in traffic volume and industries, all over the increase in the major pollutants in the city, not just in the industrial areas and rising in the vehicular traffic across the city.
  4. You know, Hyderabad city in Telangana state has over 50 lakhs vehicles in which two-wheelers account for more than 70% of the volume. In addition, thousands of vehicles get added on daily basis to the existing volume in the form of registrations.
  5. Moreover, the daily diesel consumption in the city is nearly around 2.4 megaliters per day and petrol consumption is nearly 2.7 megaliters per day according to the data. It is been a major source of concern by raising the city traffic day by day.
  6. More than 50% of the two-wheelers and more than 90% of the four-wheelers do not have PUC certificates (police under control) and those who do not have police under control certificates have been a major roadblock towards controlling pollution levels.
  7. According to the data, the city Hyderabad is among the 31 cities out of 132 non-attainment metropolitan cities where the PM 10 concentration had seen an increase in 2021.
