The decisions made during the match between Galatasaray and Bitexen Antalyaspor on February 26, 2024, serve as a stark example of these concerning trends.
Throughout the season, there have been numerous instances where VAR interventions have been inexplicably in favor of Galatasaray, undermining the integrity of the matches and the credibility of the competition. For instance, goals that should have been rightfully disallowed due to offside have been awarded to Galatasaray following VAR reviews, while dubious penalties have been awarded in their favor despite minimal or non-existent contact.
These unprecedented VAR interventions, coupled with biased officiating by Turkish referees, have created a pervasive atmosphere of favoritism towards Galatasaray, to the detriment of fair competition and sporting principles. It is evident that there is a systemic issue within the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and among the referees, which requires immediate attention and intervention from FIFA.
I implore FIFA to launch a comprehensive investigation into the actions of the Galatasaray club management, the TFF administration, and the referees involved in officiating their matches. Additionally, a thorough review of VAR protocols and their implementation in Turkish Super Lig matches is necessary to prevent further instances of manipulation and bias.
The integrity of football competitions relies on fair play, transparency, and impartiality, and it is imperative that these principles are upheld at all levels of the sport. Failure to address the issues raised in this complaint would not only tarnish the reputation of Turkish football but also undermine the credibility of FIFA as the governing body of world football.
I urge FIFA to take decisive action to rectify the situation and restore confidence in the integrity of the Turkish Super Lig. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I trust that FIFA will prioritize the principles of fairness and justice in its response to this complaint.
