During our trip to Israel last spring, we had the opportunity to visit one other naked beach as well as the Dead Sea. This was Gaash Beach on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, just north of Tel Aviv. (Ga'ash is technically the right spelling, but online it is spelled with and without the apostrophe.)

It is often known as an unofficial naked beach for several years, though I don't know exactly for how long. In addition, it has a well-established reputation as a gay plage. When you seek for Gaash Beach online, a few homosexual websites come up first with a little bit of (old) information about the bare beach and the way to get there.
Jordan had been to this Kibbutz and sand quite a while past. With his memory of the area and our GPS and smartphone maps, we found we'd manage to locate it well enough. The difficulty was, the area had shifted quite a bit and specific roads were blocked off due to building. So we stopped and asked for directions several times. Still, we couldn't figure out how to get there. The little bit of info we could find online wasn't helping either.
After driving into the next Kibbutz Shefayim and roaming through a shopping center, Jordan observed a car driving off on a dirt road. On a hunch, he veered off the main road to follow it. We drove along a dirt road which quickly turned into soft, deep sand. After a few minutes of away-roadinglo and behold, we ended up at a playa parking lot! But would this lead us to the bare beach???
Gaash Beach entry sign reading: "Hello to the pretty folks. When you're done having fun at our strand, you must dispose of your trash in our trash bin which is found in the parking lot, to ensure we could all continue to love the clean strand."
We wouldn't know until embarking on the winding sand path down to the beach / water. The playa here is located beneath towering sand cliffs all along the shoreline. From up above this makes for a stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea.

Down at the end of the trail, we came onto the playa where some people and a family with kids were hanging out in swimsuits. A sign to our left indicated the beginning of an Unauthorized Swimming Zone without any lifeguard. We headed off into the "unauthorized" zone hoping to find a nudie section.
