  3. For those freight brokers who don't have a cushion of money or who cannot obtain other financing, there are "factors" who will buy your accounts receivable. They take a percentage of your receivable but they will take care of the collection process in many cases. We go into more detail on this in our training.

  5. Is your Truck driving school accredited? PTDI accredited schools are the most recognized in the US and you can't go wrong if you attend one of these. 2. Is the course going to provide you the necessary entrance level qualifications? 3. Do you have finance options, and if so what are they and are the terms satisfactory? 4. Course duration - are the hours being plumped by unnecessary and time wasting subjects, and what are the classroom facilities like? 5. Admission requirements - each Truck driving school will have a set of minimum requirements, many of these are required by law. 6. Does your school offer job placement? 7. How many actual hands-on hours are spent in the truck on a one-on-one basis? 8. What type of trucks do they train in and are the modern and well maintained?

  7. They have no reason to BS you. What they DO need to do is give you the very best experience they can while you attend their school and give you the best chance they can give you at being successful once you've graduated. Their entire future is based upon their reputation. Word of mouth from former students and recommendations from the trucking companies they send students to are the key to their future survival.

  11. HR Truck Licence Next, the best trucking companies are driving newer trucks. Newer trucks are more efficient and make logistic more productive cutting cost and saving money. When you are getting trained in a 15-year beast and move into a newer beast out of truck college you are going to go through growing pains. Make sure you find a school that is offering up to date trucks to learn on. Going from school to the real thing can be a stressful environment, try not to add more to think about by not being able to operate the new bells and whistles that are coming on today's rigs.

  13. I also want to stress that against what you might believe, trucking companies work very hard at hiring as many students as they can get. You would think that a company would want all the experience behind the wheel that they can get. Well, this is simply not true. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why, but I have theories. And yap, you guessed it - I never have an unspoken thought - so I'll share them.

Many of the better private schools will have a wide range of training including several weeks of practice at backing up the truck, classroom coverage of everything from log books to maps and routing to air brakes and vehicle inspection. They will also have several weeks of training out on the local roadways. Make sure they will give you the necessary training to get ALL of your endorsements including hazmat, tankers, doubles and triples, and people (buses). Make sure you get ALL of these. It only requires a very short written test and can also severely limit your job opportunities if you leave them out.
