  1. Shop around, too. There's plenty of companies offering all sorts of different scrap metal prices on various grades of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Know the yards - all of the yards - in your area. Know their strengths, and what materials they offer weaker pricing on. Also be aware of their distances, drive time equals gas money...and spending an extra $10 in gas to get $0.05 of a higher scrap metal price on 10 LB of brass doesn't make sense...or cents!! Don't be afraid to keep a little black book full of addresses, phone numbers, lists of what to take where and when, and all other sorts of notes and information that might come in handy.

  5. Search for local Used auto parts store. The Internet is a great place to find junk yards in your area. Enter "auto salvage yards" followed by the name of your city or town and check the results. If you're using Google, you'll also see a map returned that will pinpoint the exact locations of nearby yards. Pick up the phone and call each yard and explain what you own and what is wrong with your car. You may be asked about recent repairs and stand out features such as a customized grille, newer wheels and what type of audio system is present.

  7. car junkyards Over the Internet, you will find online market for used cars. There are a large number of websites where used cars are traded. You can just make a posting and then when you find the right customer paying the right price then you can go ahead and sell of your vehicle. You always do not have to send your car to the scrap yard. However, if you want to get the materials from the scrap yard then you can very well choose this option.

  9. You'd expect decades old cars to be extremely cheap. You'd expect scrap yards to give them away for free. But quite the opposite is true. Many people enjoy the style, class and charisma of a classic, genuine muscle car. There are no new ones being made. There are not many left. They are in high demand. The prices for this type of automobile are pretty much equal to the price you will pay for a new, modern vehicle!

  11. Q. Why do appliance companies charge you when they're likely going to just fill up a truck and bring them across town to the recycling center where they'll be paid for them?

  13. When you arrive at the salvage yard, they will let you see the part and you can decide whether or not to purchase it. If you do, you simply carry out the transaction right there and it is done.

  15. Spurious body parts are notorious for not fitting 100% correctly and so many times you will hear stories about the slight modifications that have had to be made, to make the auto body part fit correctly. Be it new holes to be drilled, a few taps of the hammer or a slight cut with the angle grinder. The stories are out there by the thousands.

  17. This was more of a problem a few years ago, but I can't tell you how often I have seen people pass up on appliances or things because they didn't have enough non-ferrous metals in them. For Used auto parts online of all that is sacred, do yourself a favor and grab everything that is metal! Steel is at peak prices. If you don't collect steel and iron right now, you are a serious fool, and Mr. T takes pity on your soul.
