  1. What's a Proximity Sensor? Proximity Sensors convert data on the motion or presence of an object into an electrical sign. There are sensor switch of detection programs that do that conversion: methods that use the eddy currents which can be generated in metallic sensing objects by electromagnetic induction, techniques that detect adjustments in electrical capability when approaching the sensing object, and systems that use magnets and reed switches. The Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) outline Proximity Sensors in JIS C 8201-5-2 (Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear, Part 5: Control circuit gadgets and switching elements, Part 2: Proximity switches), which conforms to the IEC 60947-5-2 definition of non-contact place detection switches. This Technical Rationalization defines all inductive sensors which are used for detecting metallic objects, capacitive sensors that are used for detecting metallic or non-metallic objects, and sensors that utilize magnetic DC fields as Proximity Sensors.
