  1. Eliminate toxic substances. Many times toxins are left in the garage- old paint, harsh cleaners, bug repellents, old garden/lawn sprays and fertilizers, etc. Take one afternoon to gather all the old toxins and research how to recycle them properly. Try looking on recycling resource websites your local city or village website.

  5. There are many outsourcing sites online that are search engines to find just about any part you need. No more going to the auto salvage yards in to find that old part that you need to keep your cars running. You just need to visit your computer and find a site and find the part.
  6.
  7. Also the automotive service business and the backyard mechanic will be affected because those cars that were scrapped cannot be used for parts. So if you go to a salvage yard, different from a scrap yard, you won't be able to find a good used part to fix your (clunker?) car. And if you can find used parts look to pay 20%-30% more due to shortage.

  9. As for the price of auto parts, aside from the age of the vehicle there is the make and model. In this case foreign car parts are much more expensive than domestically made cars. Most people who buy foreign cars don't realize this or even think about it until it comes time to get their vehicle repaired. Then they get hit with the bill and their eyes pop out of their head. For example, an oil filer for a 2005 Buick Century is about $2.98. The same oil filter for a Honda CRV is $3.98. It's basically the same filter for the Honda but it costs $1.00 more. That comes out to a 33% markup on a relatively cheap part. Imagine that same 33% markup on a part that costs $60 for the Buick. You'd be paying about $80 for the same part for the Honda.

  11. Start spending time at garage sales. They are a great source of items and materials at rock bottom prices. If you're going to trade for something, you might as well trade a low cost item from a garage sale for something that is of higher value to you. Garage sales are a great place to find things that people no longer value and would like to get rid of, sometimes for pennies on the dollar. This can be quite beneficial to you.

  13. The research phase of your tax lien purchase is going to be the difference between hitting a home run-redemption with full interest paid, possibility even a grand slam-getting a property for pennies on the dollar OR owning a piece of environment disaster history, made a parcel of useless land that YOU now get to pay taxes on.
