Gul Ahmed Textile Mills Limited (GATM), one of the largest textile mills in the country, has revealed plans to establish a 17.1 MW rooftop solar plant.

The company's Board of Directors (BoD) has granted approval to the management to finalize a term sheet with K Solar (Private) Limited, a vertically integrated power utility firm in Pakistan. This agreement is for the development of a 17.1 MW rooftop solar plant on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis at the manufacturing facility.

The announcement was made by GATM, a subsidiary of Gul Ahmed Holdings (Private) Limited, in a notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday.

"The project is anticipated to be operational by Q1 2025," stated the notification.

According to the statement, Gul Ahmed currently has a solar capacity of 0.5 MW, with an additional 1.4 MW in the installation phase. "Upon completion of this project, the total solar installed capacity will reach 19 MW," it further mentioned.
