Firstly, this asseveration has some pretty interesting (and admittedly, based and pretty good) points. The definition of "God" by current Christian standards is very narrow and opaque. Christians often depict "God" as a strict being who punishes sinners and sends them to hell and whatnot for the sake of societal order. But for me, current scriptures just merely drivel fueled by a hunger for control over the populace. This is personally why I strayed away from Christianity and started to form my own theories and beliefs regarding the nature of reality.
I agree with your belief that "God is the metastatic truth of reality", but I disagree with the idea that "God" is an entity that has cognizance and direct control over our universe. I believe that if a "God" were to exist, it would be both the foundation in which everything in our reality would sit inside, and the amalgamation of all the possible realities within it. Everything from the laws of our universe, to the foundation of logic itself.
Take the Ship of Theseus. For those who do not recognize this thought experiment, it goes like this:
"Suppose you have a ship. You remove one piece of the ship and replace it with another identical part. You do this until you have replaced all of the old parts of the ship. Is the ship still the same ship or is it an entirely different ship?"
Now, this thought is experiment is interesting and all but what does it have to do with "God"? Suppose you replace the Ship of Theseus with anything. You, me, your cat, a building, the Earth, the entire universe, and so on. If parts of you were to be replaced one by one, would you still be you? Personally I believe that the Ship of Theseus is still the same ship because we have the idea that the ship IS the "Ship of Theseus". Similarly, you would still be you because you and other people have defined yourself to be yourself.
I believe we are merely part of a greater "whole", to which the "whole" would be impossible to contemplate fully by our finite minds. We are a part of "God". We came from "his" image and likeness, which is the foundation of reality itself. Your reality is merely a slice of the "whole" in which I mentioned, and this slice of reality is what defines "you" as an entity. Therefore, a "God" would be the entity that is the result of the amalgamation of everything that is part and not part of your reality. Your view point and world view is the truth, or rather. a part of it. This emergent property of reality is evident everywhere in our universe. From atoms forming molecules, to molecules forming cells, to cells forming humans, to humans forming societies, etc.
Ultimately, my point just boils down to this: "God" is whatever you want it to be. Existent or non-existent. Symbolistic or literal. Your idea of it is the truth. "God" is your personal "Ship of Theseus". This is why you cannot absolve people for their beliefs, as their beliefs are driven by their world view. To absolve people for their beliefs is to absolve "God", which is absurd.
This is why I don't partake in religious practices and disagree with the idea of sin (good and evil). I agree with laws which dictate over proper behavior in a society, but I find it personally absurd to worship such laws and associate them with a supreme divine entity. I believe in the idea of "God". Not God itself.
P.S. I use "God" in quotation marks because I really don't have a name for my idea of the metaphysical entity I'm referring to. I just refer to it as "God" for simplicity.
